The London Print Design Fair was held at One Marylebone exhibition center in London. We decided to check it out and so glad we did, we found an eclectic mix of print, surface patterns and catwalk reactive textile designs that was the main topic of the event.

print Stories at the London print design fair

To start with we meandered amongst the print design studios to catch a glimpse of what their design studios and individual designers had to offer.

We noticed enlarged florals in muted colours of brown, mustard and navy were in favour for winter 2020 print trends as well as minute geometrics in colours of brown, mustard, cream and pale pinks, which as coordinating patterns looked very good paired with the giant florals in similar colours.

We met a very nice couple of childrenswear studios exhibiting at the fair, one of which was from the Lightship Print Shop, she was featuring childrenswear prints with an animal theme such as parrots and elephants there was also another childrenswear studio that featured minute children’s leopard prints in vibrant pinks, blues and colourful multi motif dinosaur prints.

Whiston and Wright featured catwalk reactive prints on women’s apparel, which was great as you could see how the design reacts to the garment. There were also a few design studios that specialised in home interiors and stationery such as the Girl Gang Studio from Switzerland.

The atmosphere was electric, everyone was very friendly and open for discussion, the overall impression we found was that the textile fairs are a really great way to engage with textile fashion buyers, manufacturers and fashion design houses and showcase your new collections and to promote your brand. And what the buyers really want is to meet the person behind your brand.
