When Staying At home With Children
How to keep relaxed and de-stressed Covid 19
Self Isolation
This is a very difficult time for you, your family, your loved ones and your friends. You have been advised by the Government to self-isolate, Stay off work, Don’t have mass gatherings Don’t use pubs and restaurants.
Immunocompromised
If you have an immune-compromised person in your family, then you have been advised to self-isolate for 2 weeks immediately if you have any symptoms of the coronavirus, but if you are immunocompromised you should avoid all contact with people and even your family and self isolate for at least 12 weeks.
Safety
It’s very hard to believe that this is happening in our lifetime. But you have to listen to the Government and the NHS they are only doing this for your own safety.
I myself have 3 immune-compromised family members in the same household, so we are all self-isolating for 12 weeks.
What can we do to help you get through this time?
1 De-Stress
Take an hour out of your day to set aside for you, find somewhere comfortable at home to sit or lie down and take a moment to de-stress, clear your mind of what’s happening in on the news, the media, and advice all around you. To be stressed in these testing times is not going to help you or your family.
The de-stress method:
Lie down on your bed, put your hands relaxed down by your side
1: Shake your hands
2: Shake your arms
3: Shake your legs
3: Shake your feet
4:Close your eyes
5: Breathe in for 4 – (and in your mind count to four) – then exhale and count to 4.
6: Do this 4 times.
7: Think of the stress in your body ‘like a bubble’, starting at your feet move this bubble up through your body, feel it as it moves up through your legs, your spine, down through each arm and around your torso, (you might feel a tingling effect) move the bubble from you torso up through your neck, around your neck and open your mouth and breathe out- blowing the stress from your body.
8: Breathe in again for 4 and exhale for 4.
9: Lay still, clear your mind of all your worries, stress and anxiety, think of a recent wonderful time in your life may be a holiday with your children or a time when you were at your happiest. Perhaps you could visualise a time lying on a beach with the warm sun on your body, feel the sun on your face and how happy it makes you feel.
10:Close your eyes, breathe in and exhale normally and relax.
11: Do this for an hour each day to de-stress – it will help you get through this time when you have to stay at home with your family.
I will be posting each week on more things you can do at home with your children, today was about you!
I do hope you all keep well during this time and I’m here if you need to talk.
