What to do with your children during the COVID 19 lockdown – Potato Printing.

Most of you will be found at a loss as to what to do with your children in these strange and testing times.

Keeping Children Entertained During The COVID 19 Lockdown

Potato Printing

Find a suitable baking sized potatoes in your vegetable rack or box, wash and cut in half. Clear the kitchen table and cover with newspaper or a wipe proof cover.

Imagination with Potato Paints

Find some old paints that your children have accumulated around the house, or they could be your own personal set if you are a crafter or painter for use with potato printing.

Let’s Get Creative

Get an adult to help your children cut the potato into the design they want.

Step 1 – Cut the potato into the desired pattern.
Step 2 – Pat the potato dry with a kitchen towel.
Step 3 – Use a wet paintbrush to colour the potato.
Step 4 – Get your child to firmly press the potato onto the paper.
Step 5 – Lift the potato carefully from the paper.
Step 6 – Repeat with different colours to make an all-over pattern – Remembering to dry the potato between each print.

And an old vegetable knife, or a knife that is blunt, so the children don’t hurt themselves. Spread the table with some paper, if you don’t have any white paper then use the newspaper to print on ready for their potato printing.
